South Congress Avenue runs south from the river toward a strip of boutiques, murals and patios with the Capitol dome in the background. From spring through fall, roughly 1.5 million bats emerge from under the Congress Avenue bridge at dusk — the largest urban bat colony in the world.
Boutiques, murals (including the 'I love you so much' wall), patios, live music and the bat flight at the bridge.
Near Congress Ave Bridge on the north end, or side streets south of the strip — curbside parking is limited.
Two to three hours covers shopping and a meal; add dusk time for the bats.
