The Duquesne Incline has hauled riders up the steep face of Mt. Washington since 1877 in its original wooden cable cars. At the top, Grandview Avenue's observation decks line the bluff for one of America's great urban views — downtown Pittsburgh wedged into the golden triangle where the Allegheny and Monongahela meet to form the Ohio River, with Point State Park's fountain dead center.
A few dollars each way (exact cash or transit card); the upper observation decks are free.
Lower station curb on W Carson St, or drop at the top on Grandview Ave; coaches stage at Station Square.
Golden hour into night — downtown lights up across the rivers.
