Independence Hall is where the Declaration of Independence was debated and signed in 1776 and the Constitution drafted in 1787 — the Assembly Room still holds the original 'Rising Sun' chair. Across Chestnut Street, the Liberty Bell Center displays the famous cracked bell, and the surrounding Independence National Historical Park blocks hold Congress Hall, Old City Hall and the President's House site.
Entry is free but requires a timed ticket (reserved online for a $1 handling fee); school groups should book early.
Buses use posted drop zones on Market or Chestnut St near the Visitor Center, then stage in city coach parking areas.
Two to three hours covers Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and a ranger talk.
